I think that when you catch him doing it inside that you should give a stern ''NO!'', Bad dog!!'' then take him outside. So that he gets the feeling that no I am not supposed to be doing this there. Then when you take him outside at first he will be confused but then he will understand that oh ok i'm supposed to be doing it out here and then when he finally does then praise him and give him a treat so then he know that when I do it inside I am not getting anything but when I do it outside then I get treats. And when you take him outside take him to the same spot and make sure when he does bad then you say no! And dont make him feel like he is doing anything right.

He doesn't know that it is bad. All he knows is that you are ticked. That is why he runs and hides.

I never recommend to clients to train their dog to tell them when they need to go. It is better if the dog just learns how to hold it until they take them out. The way to accomplish this is through 100% supervision, proper discipline when the dog goes in the house, and keeping your dog on a regular schedule.

ADDED: You're not supervising. If you catch it later there is nothing you can do. Nothing. If you don't catch it in the act you can't mold behavior. If you are going to catch it in the act you have to supervise. 100%. No way around it
